Khao Kheow Open Zoo, for over 60 years, has been a cherished resource located in the Chonburi Province and is a reflection of The Zoological Park Organization of Thailand’s dedication towards nature and conservation. The zoo encompasses over 2,000 acres of the Khao Kheow-Khao Chom Puo Wildlife Sanctuary. The zoo grounds are divided into animal habitats (400 acres), public recreational areas (200 acres) and research area (1,400 acres) which is used for the breeding of various endangered species. It is the first zoo in Thailand to receive international recognition and to become a member of WAZA (World Association of Zoos and Aquariums).

With its magnificent blend of lush forest landscapes and wonderful collection of over 8,000 animals & birds representing over 300 species, this zoo is able to provide visitors with very unique, educational and natural experiences. The zoo also houses the largest collection of cat species in Thailand.

 
 

ZOO HIGHLIGHTS

 
Tram rides around the zoo – Visitors may drive their own cars around the zoo but the alternative ‘Tram Ride’ is highly recommended. This is a free services provided by the zoo and visitors may get off at any station to look around the animal exhibits in the area and may catch the next Tram that comes by to get to the next station.

Journey to the Jungle - This is an amazing visual spectacle of the wonders of nature. The stage set is a scene that is typical of a mysterious tropical jungle. Journey to the Jungle will bring you closer to the majesty of predators and other wild animals.

Wild Khao Kheow – Stop by Wild Khao Kheow Amphitheatre, right next to the Children’s Zoo, to see the spectacular bird show featuring the colorful macaws, the magnificent great hornbill, the cute and curious lories and other feathered friends.

Elephant Trek – Enjoy a short ride (10-30 minutes) on one of the planet’s most majestic animals, the ‘elephant’. Visitors may enjoy riding on domestic elephants along the paths of the zoo’s hilly terrain or just drop by to enjoy watching the elephants show off their many special skills.

Night Safari – At dusk it is time for the Night Safari. Visitors take a special tram ride around the zoo at night to discover night wild animal in our modern and safe service car which will provide you the convenience in touring together with our expert who will escort you along the way.
