“Half the fun of the travel is the esthetic of lostness” says the famous Ray Bradbury. Quite truly travelling is not a luxury but a need of human soul, just like food for body.travel is the element that connects us to this vast universe that we are a part of. Connect with nature, connect with its miracles, connect with the speechless animals and talk to them in a language universal to all living beings.
The 1st World Tourism Day was celebrated by United Nations World Tourism Organization on 27th September 1980 as this was the date when UNWTO had adopted its Statutes that marked milestone in global tourism.
Every year the UNWTO decides one country as a host and to act as the Organization’s partner in the celebration of World Tourism Day. The chronology since then has been such as Turkey, in 1997, China in 2003, 2006 in Europe; 2007 in South Asia; 2008 in the Americas; 2009 in Africa and 2011 in the Middle East.
Also every year there is a certain theme assigned to the purpose of travel. This year’s theme emphasizes on the role of tourism in water conservation and access; and on the actions currently being taken by the sector to contribute to a more sustainable water future, and its challenges ahead. This year the host country is Mexico.
