The birth of the baby Meerkats came just days before the Zoo hosts a Children’s Day event on Saturday.
“It’s a pleasure for us to have four pups as our newest members. The parent still keep them underground and they only started coming out of the burrow recently. Judging by what he’s seen, the vet said the quartet is healthy,” said Attaporn Srihayrun, the zoo’s assistant director.
“The pups stay close to their parents and don’t allow our officers to get close. It’ll take time before we can check their sex. So, we would like to invite children to watch them in the flesh at the zone for African mammals.
“We’ll hold the Children’s Day event this weekend, with free entry for kids not taller than 135 centimeters as well as for those who show a student’s card or wear school uniforms.”
