We all know that the popular V-Day is celebrated as an expression of love by most youngsters. We also know that it is celebrated in memory of and named after a saint. But how did it all start?
During the 270 A.D an early Christian saint named Valentinus spread the message of love and secretly united soldiers who weren’t allowed to marry with their beloveds. He was later caught by the then roman king and sentenced to death.
The saint sacrificed his life in the process of spreading the importance of union. It is believed he died on the February 14th, 269 A.D and since then the day is remembered in his honor.
Valentine’s Day is not just about romance, chocolates and flowers. It goes beyond that, to a place where love resides in every creature and every action. The idea of spreading love is adventurous yet we often find people oppress this feeling of love which is supposed to be so pure.Valentine’s Day thus is an opportunity for us to embrace every life form that makes this world a beautiful place worth living.
