THE 85TH ACADEMY AWARDS

The initial stage of his career was spent in the Taiwanese movie industry. From a humble start to successful Hollywood director has not much changed him as a person and is still much grounded to his roots. He supports many philanthropic causes such as actor Jet Li’s charitable organization, “One Foundation” and universal human rights. He has also given a speech at the Human Rights Campaign Gala organized in 2007.

Being born in Taiwan to a middle class family, Lee was finely educated and acquired mastery of Chinese Literature. It was this understanding of strong cultural roots that helped him in completing his bachelor’s degree in theater from the prestigious University of Illinois. It is here that his filmy journey truly began.
