Save Environment, Save Yourselves: Happy World Environment Day!

Happy World Environment Day

No one could be more joyous than us at Khao Kheow Open Zoo on the arrival of 5th June. You ask why? Well of course because it is the World Environment Day. Like every year, this time too, we are planning to celebrate this day with much gusto.

On 5th June 1972 the United Nations held a Conference on the Human Environment that ended on 16th June 1972. The World Environment Day was result of this conference and is thus held on 5th June every year since 1973. The international events of the day are run by United Nations Environment Program (UNEP). The United Nations Environment Program personalizes environmental issues which makes every individual connect to the issue and realize not only their responsibility, but also their power to bring a positive change for a sustainable and equitable development.World Environment DayOne hears plenty of slogans, banners and posters about ‘save environment’ much has been said and done in order to protect the environment, and yet it is far less compared to the catastrophic mistakes that have and are still being made.

Being an environmentalist is not as easy as painting a save earth poster, one has be sincere and incessant in their efforts.  A genuine love and respect for all life forms, sustainable and eco-friendly lifestyle; which is not always comfortable, is required from individuals. Make a count of your carbon foot prints, save water and energy, use eco-friendly energy like solar and wind, reuse and recycle paper, plastic, glass, metal and cloth products. Be creative and most of all love nature with all your heart.

So what are you going to pledge on this World Environment Day? Do let us know on our Facebook page. JTTJ wishes all its patrons a Happy World Environment Day and hope to be the change we want to see.
