We welcome you all in the year of Snake. In Khao Kheow Open Zoo, this time around we celebrated the Chinese New Year with much zeal and eco-consciousness. Our Zoo Director, Mr. Khun Su-ri-ya Saeng-pong shared a few wise details with our guest about the growing need of wildlife conservation. He also revealed this year’s mascot, a huge snake entwined with a dragon. It was a 30 meter long model and was made of natural elements like coconut leaves, palm fronds and wooden branches.
The zoo looked like a fantasy, being decorated with colorful flowers and other embellishments. As the Chinese New Year is all about spreading happiness and wishing good fortune; we decided to make this day for our guest more special. On the weekends, each day 100 free tickets were distributed to our enchanting shows; Khao Kheow after dark, and journey to the jungle. So this year the zoo resolved to keep on working towards the common goal of saving nature and conserving wildlife. We hope your new year was as exciting as ours. We pray that ‘may the year of snake shower you with good fortune all through the year’.
